ocr: The first pictures of the extended corona in ultraviolet were made by the UVCS instrument. Near the equaforial plane the material is shaped by the Sun's magnetic field into a giant nozzle called helmet streamer, shown in Lyman alpha and Oxygen VI, reaching three million km from the Sun's visible surface.
